Precautions for Shipping Dangerous Goods

Key points that consignors of dangerous goods must observe when handling consignment:

(1) Consign the goods to a transport operator holding a valid road dangerous goods transport business license.

(2) Clearly fill in the dangerous goods name, specifications, individual weight, number of pieces, packaging method, departure date, detailed addresses of the consignor and consignee, as well as precautions during transportation on the consignment note. For dangerous goods with special requirements or requiring certificates for transportation, relevant documents must be attached and noted in the remarks column of the consignment note.

(3) For consigning the following dangerous goods, relevant certificates shall be held:
1. For explosive items and chemical dangerous goods requiring certificates for transportation, a permit for the transportation of explosives or a permit for the transportation of chemical dangerous goods issued by the public security department must be held;
2. For radioactive items, an inspection certificate for packaging surface contamination and radiation levels issued by the designated health and epidemic prevention department must be held.

(4) Dangerous goods with conflicting properties or fire-extinguishing methods must be filled in separate consignment notes to prevent major accidents caused by mixed loading.

(5) For consigning new types of dangerous goods not listed in the List of Dangerous Goods Transported by Road Vehicles, a Dangerous Goods Identification Form reviewed by the competent authority of the production or operating unit must be submitted, and transportation can be arranged after approval by the Provincial Highway Transport Administration.

Failure to follow the above regulations for consigning dangerous goods, resulting in transportation accidents, shall be entirely borne by the consignor.
