Do you know the types of road freight transport?

(I) Classification by quantity of goods transported 1. Full Truck Load (FTL) Transport FTL transport refers to the mode where a consignor leases one or several trucks to transport a full truckload of goods. This method is generally convenient for both consignors and carriers, making it one of the most commonly used transport modes. 2. Less than Truck Load (LTL) Transport LTL refers to goods that a single consignor ships in quantities insufficient for a full load, typically those whose charging weight is less than 3 tons. LTL transport involves consolidating many small shipments. This type of transport usually uses box trucks to effectively protect goods and prevent damage. LTL transport is the most simple and flexible, and it also achieves faster delivery of goods compared to other modes. (II) Classification by the nature of goods transported 1. General Cargo Transport This refers to the transport of goods with no special requirements for the transport process or method, and it is the main mode in road freight. 2. Special Cargo Transport This involves the transport of special goods, which mainly include the following four categories: (1) Dangerous Goods: Refer to special goods that are flammable, explosive, polluting, corrosive, or radioactive. Such goods must be transported using corresponding special vehicles. (2) Oversized Goods: Refer to goods that are exceptionally long or heavy, which must be transported using special flatbed trucks. (3) Fresh and Live Goods: For example, frozen products, flowers, or live aquatic products. These goods are usually transported by refrigerated or insulated trucks. (4) Valuables: Refer to rare mineral products, critical equipment, etc. These goods also require special vehicles to ensure their safety during transport. 3. Container Cargo Transport Refers to the transport of goods using standard containers as the transport unit, typically using standard container trailers. Container cargo transport is one of the main modes of international road freight and has become an indispensable part of multimodal transport. Through the use of standard containers, it effectively integrates rail, air, sea, and road transport, achieving fast, convenient, and efficient international cargo transport.
