Charging Rules
Chargeable weight = the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight. Volumetric weight formula:
Volumetric weight (kg) = Length (cm) × Width (cm) × Height (cm) ÷ divisor

Critical density: 1 cubic meter ≈ 167 kg (6000 ÷ 1,000,000 × 1000). Cargo below 167 kg/m³ is usually treated as low-density (volumetric) cargo; above that, as dense cargo.

What is low-density (volumetric) cargo?
When volumetric weight exceeds actual weight, the cargo is low-density (volumetric) and is charged on volumetric weight; otherwise it is charged on actual weight.
Why do express carriers use ÷5000?
International express carriers (DHL/UPS/FedEx) apply a divisor of 5000, so for the same size the volumetric weight is about 20% higher than standard air cargo.
How is ocean LCL charged?
Ocean LCL is charged by cubic meter (CBM). The volume (CBM) shown by this calculator can be used directly for LCL estimation.
