China's Major Inland Waterway Resources

Our country has abundant inland waterway resources, and the main inland water transport resources include:

Yangtze River System: The Yangtze River is China's largest navigable river, with over 3,500 navigable tributaries and a navigable mileage of about 70,000 kilometers, accounting for approximately 70% of the country's total inland waterway mileage. The main stem of the Yangtze River, from Yibin to the river mouth, is about 2,813 kilometers long, divided into upper, middle, and lower reaches. The lower reaches are navigable year-round by vessels of 5,000–15,000 tons. The annual freight volume of the main stem exceeds 3 billion tons, making it the inland waterway with the highest transport volume in the world.

Pearl River system: The Pearl River is the second largest navigable river in China, with 988 navigable rivers and a navigable mileage of about 30,000 kilometers, connecting Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, and Guizhou, and serving as an important logistics channel in South China.

Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal: It connects north and south, with a navigable mileage of over 1,000 kilometers, and still plays an important role in transportation.

Heilongjiang River System: Comprising the Heilongjiang, Songhua, Nen, and Wusuli (Ussuri) rivers, the Heilongjiang has a navigable mileage of about 1,890 kilometers and is seasonally navigable due to the freezing period.
