国际海运如何安排拖车

In the international container sea freight operation process, there is a trailer loading step. The trailer is an essential part of international container sea freight imports and exports. So, how do you arrange a trailer for international sea freight?

To understand how to arrange a trailer for international sea freight, first, we need to know what an international sea freight trailer is.

An international sea freight trailer is a modern transportation method that uses containers as the transport unit for cargo movement. It is mainly used for transporting goods from the factory to the terminal during export, or from the terminal to a designated receiving location during import.

How to arrange a trailer for international sea freight?

  1. Contact our company, provide specific trailer requirements, the port of loading, and the container loading address. Our company will provide the specific trailer price.
  2. If the price is confirmed, send the Shipping Order (hereinafter referred to as SO) to us. Our company will process the documents at the corresponding terminal based on the SO, and verify the actual sailing schedule and gate open time to coordinate the container loading time.
Document processing means taking the SO to the designated location to exchange for the Equipment Interchange Receipt (EIR). The EIR is used in the processes of picking up empty containers, loading, and returning containers.
  3. The shipper confirms the factory's specific loading time, detailed loading address, contact person and phone number, cargo name, weight, and other information. Our company arranges the trailer in advance. Note that trailers come in 4-axle, 5-axle, and 6-axle types. Trailers with more axles have greater horsepower and can tow heavier cargo. Therefore, the shipper should report the cargo weight in advance to avoid overloading where the trailer horsepower is insufficient.
  4. The trailer driver takes the EIR to the designated container yard to pick up an empty container. After picking up the empty container, based on the pre-confirmed loading address and time, the driver arrives at the factory or logistics warehouse on time to prepare for loading. The factory or logistics warehouse is responsible for loading the container.
  5. After loading is confirmed, the factory seals the container on-site, and the driver pulls the loaded container (a loaded container is typically called a "heavy container") back to the designated terminal depot or port yard.

The above is the basic process of how to arrange a trailer for international sea freight.

Additionally, different shipping lines and different terminals have varying procedures and locations for document processing. Our company will handle the document processing matters based on the specific circumstances of each shipping line and container pick-up terminal.

If the container pick-up location is different, a deviation pick-up fee (Yiti Fee) may apply. Other potential fees include container booking fees, overweight fees, detention fees, storage fees, etc.
