Hong Kong is an important hub for international trade, with multiple ports of entry and exit facilitating the import and export of goods. The entry and exit ports of Hong Kong logistics lines include sea, land, and air transport.
Sea Ports
Among the sea ports for Hong Kong logistics lines is the Kwai Tsing Container Terminals. The Kwai Tsing Container Terminals is one of the largest container terminals in Hong Kong.
Air Ports
The main air port for Hong Kong logistics lines is the Hong Kong International Airport.
Land Ports
Land ports for Hong Kong logistics lines refer to the ports for road transport of goods between Hong Kong and Mainland China. Several land ports have cargo inspection functions, allowing for the import and export of goods, including: Shenzhen Bay Port, Huanggang/Lok Ma Chau Port, Man Kam To Port, Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Port, Sha Tau Kok Port, and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port.
From the port names, most ports are uniformly named, such as Shenzhen Bay Port, Huanggang Port, Man Kam To Port, and Sha Tau Kok Port. Only two ports have dual names: Huanggang/Lok Ma Chau Port and Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Port.
Shenzhen Bay Port
Shenzhen Bay Port is the largest comprehensive road port for passengers and cargo in Asia. It is located at Dongjiaotou, Shekou, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, and connects to O K Tau, Hong Kong. Shenzhen Bay Port operates 24 hours a day under the "co-location" inspection model. The Shenzhen Bay Bridge connects the Northwest New Territories of Hong Kong with Shekou, Shenzhen, consolidating Hong Kong's status as a business and logistics center in the Pearl River Delta and further expanding trade between Hong Kong and Southern China.
Huanggang/Lok Ma Chau Port
Huanggang Port is located in the southern part of Shenzhen City. The Huanggang/Lok Ma Chau Port operates 24 hours a day. The Lok Ma Chau Bridge crosses the Shenzhen River, connecting Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The Lok Ma Chau (Huanggang) Port serves as a transportation hub for both Shenzhen and Hong Kong, mainly maintaining the transportation and logistics links between the two places.
Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Port
Liantang Port is situated at the border between the northeastern New Territories of Hong Kong and Liantang Subdistrict, Luohu District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. It is named "Heung Yuen Wai Control Point" in Hong Kong and "Liantang Port" in Shenzhen. This is a comprehensive port for passengers and cargo connecting Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It is also a pilot port for China's "one-stop" customs clearance model for vehicles. Its opening shortens driving times between Hong Kong and eastern Shenzhen, as well as eastern Guangdong Province, alleviates cross-border freight traffic at land ports, and enables more efficient cross-border logistics between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The operating hours for Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Port are 7:00-22:00.
Sha Tau Kok Port
Sha Tau Kok Port is located in the eastern part of Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. It is a supplementary comprehensive passenger and cargo port serving Yantian, Longgang, and the eastern Pearl River Delta region. The port has 10 vehicle inspection lanes, 15 inspection bays, 22 passenger inspection lanes, and inspection service facilities specifically for Lingpan (coffins) heading to Mainland China. The operating hours for vehicle lanes are 7:00-22:00.
Man Kam To Port
Man Kam To Port is located in the southern part of Shenzhen City. It is a major channel for imported fruits in the Shenzhen area and was one of only two land ports in Shenzhen before the reform and opening-up. It is a land port through which a large volume of fresh products supplied to Hong Kong from Mainland China are exported. Many vegetables, fruits, and fresh products are cleared through Man Kam To for delivery to Hong Kong. The operating hours for Man Kam To Port are 7:00-22:00.
Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port adopts a "three places, three inspections" model, where Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau each build and independently administer their own ports. The Zhuhai Port of the bridge comprises a passenger inspection zone and a cargo inspection zone. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port operates 24 hours a day.
The Zhuhai Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is located on the artificial island at the western end of the bridge. The east side of the port connects to the Hong Kong Port artificial island via the bridge, while the west side connects to Zhuhai via the Gongbei Tunnel. The Hong Kong Port is situated on an artificial island in the northeastern waters of the Hong Kong International Airport.
When selecting a land port for freight, logistics companies typically consider factors such as the destination of the goods, transport routes, shipping costs, and time efficiency. At the same time, logistics companies must comply with relevant customs and trade regulations, handle entry and exit procedures, and ensure the safe delivery of goods to their destination.
