什么是ROHS认证

1. What is ROHS Certification

RoHS certification, also known as environmental certification, complies with European and American standards. It is the abbreviation for "The restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment." It stipulates that electrical and electronic products containing hazardous heavy metals such as lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), and polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) have been banned from import into the European Union since July 1, 2006.

2. Products Mainly Covered by ROHS Certification

RoHS targets electrical and electronic products that may contain the above six hazardous substances in their production processes and raw materials. These mainly include: white goods such as refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, and water heaters; black goods such as audio and video products, DVDs, CDs, TV receivers; IT products, digital products, and communication products; as well as power tools, electric electronic toys, and medical electrical equipment.

3. How to Apply for ROHS Certification

Find a qualified and capable third-party accredited laboratory.

Fill out and submit the ROHS test application form.

Send the samples to the laboratory. The laboratory will reasonably disassemble the samples and provide the quantity of disassembled parts and testing costs to the applicant.

The applicant confirms and pays the testing fee.

The laboratory arranges the test (usually completed within one week) and issues the test report.

Tips

1. Before submitting products for testing, manufacturers should preferably disassemble and package the samples in detail in advance, and label each package with the product name and number. In principle, the required weight for each component test is: 10-20 grams for solids, 10-20 milligrams for liquids.

2. Complete products can generally be divided into metal materials, plastic materials, and other materials. Metal materials only require heavy metal testing (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium). Plastic materials require testing for the specified six items (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers). Other materials only require heavy metal testing.

4. Which Countries Are Involved in ROHS Certification?

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Slovenia, Cyprus, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein.
