Yantai Port is located on the northern coast of the Shandong Peninsula, bordering the southern side of the Bohai Bay and situated at the core of the Northeast Asian Economic Circle. It is one of the key hub ports along China's coast. As one of the natural deep-water ports closest to Japan and South Korea, Yantai Port plays a critical role in facilitating trade between China, Japan, and South Korea, and serves as an important water transport node connecting North China, East China, and Northeast China.

Yantai Port boasts a modern cluster of large deep-water berths, including multiple functional zones such as Zhifu Bay Port Area, West Port Area, and Longkou Port Area. It has established 300,000-ton deep-water channels and berths capable of handling various types of bulk cargo, containers, roll-on/roll-off vehicles, and liquid chemicals. The port is equipped with advanced loading and unloading equipment, an intelligent management system, and a comprehensive warehousing and collection-distribution network. Its annual cargo throughput exceeds 100 million tons, while container throughput continues to grow. In addition, Yantai Port features a bonded logistics center, cold storage warehouses, and a dedicated dangerous goods yard, meeting diverse logistics needs.

Yantai Port has opened dozens of international container liner routes covering countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas. Among these, routes to Japan and South Korea are particularly dense, offering "daily service." The port also operates several feeder routes to domestic coastal ports and ports along the Yangtze River, and connects with the Yantai-Dalian rail ferry, forming a sea-rail intermodal network radiating across North China, Northeast China, and East China. Benefiting from its advantageous geographical location, Yantai Port has become one of the key origin points for China-Europe Railway Express, further expanding logistics corridors across the Eurasian continent.

The core advantage of Yantai Port lies in its proximity to major ports in Japan and South Korea—only a few hundred nautical miles away—resulting in short sailing times and low logistics costs, making it highly suitable for time-sensitive cargo transportation. The port enjoys excellent natural conditions, remaining ice-free and silt-free year-round, ensuring stable operational efficiency. Meanwhile, as a key node city in the national "Belt and Road" initiative, Yantai benefits from convenient customs clearance policies, including streamlined customs and inspection and quarantine procedures. A mature multimodal transport system integrating road, rail, and water has been established between the port and its hinterland, enabling one-stop total logistics solutions for enterprises.

Reference information indicates that the special geographical location on the northern coast of the Shandong Peninsula and the southern side of the Bohai Bay has long positioned Yantai Port as an important gateway for trade with Japan and South Korea. Leveraging the continuous development of the Bohai Rim Economic Belt and the China-Japan-South Korea Free Trade Agreement, Yantai Port is accelerating its transformation towards smart and green operations, aiming to become a regional international shipping center.
