In the process of exporting goods, apart from standard containers, there are also a number of special containers used for loading cargo. However, marine special containers are not commonly seen in daily operations, so many exporters lack a thorough understanding of the concepts and details regarding this type of container.

Today, the editor will provide a detailed introduction to this type of container.

1. What are Marine Special Containers?

Marine special containers are mainly specialized containers used for loading special cargo. These containers have a limited quantity available, low market demand, and are difficult and complex to handle throughout the operational process. Therefore, they are generally used to transport goods of higher value. In practical work, they can be mainly divided into open-top containers, flat rack containers, tank containers, among others.

2. What are the Characteristics of Marine Containers?

 1. Open-Top Containers Open-top containers, also known as open-side containers, come in sizes of 20 feet and 40 feet. Their structure is basically similar to standard containers, the only difference being that they lack a rigid roof. In practical use, open-top containers can be loaded from the top, making them especially suitable for transporting oversized cargo such as machinery. Once the container is full, a PVC waterproof tarpaulin cover and a wire-seal device are usually used to cover the container, ensuring safe transportation of the goods.

2. Flat Rack Containers The characteristic of flat rack containers is that they have neither a roof nor sides. When loading goods, cargo can be loaded from the side of the container. In practical work, this type of container mainly loads oversized and over-wide large machinery and equipment, as well as some heavy goods.

3. Tank Containers Tank containers are mainly used to transport liquids and gases. The goods transported in this type of container mainly include chemical products, as well as kerosene, fuel oil, and gas.

3. What Precautions Should Be Taken When Operating Marine Special Containers?

When operating marine special containers, it is necessary first to confirm the weight, dimensions, and loading/unloading requirements of the goods. If it is a flat rack container, special attention must be paid to the feasibility of land transportation, and costs should be accurately calculated in advance. The above is an introduction to related information about marine special containers. In the process of exporting goods, whether to choose standard containers or marine special containers depends mainly on the type and characteristics of the cargo. Only by choosing the container based on the actual conditions of the goods can the smooth progress of the export be ensured.
